Stale air and chemical fumes build up in closed rooms without a smell or a sign. Layla tracks both, scores every room, and tells you when to let fresh air in.

How the Air score works

Layla scores how long the air stayed stale, not its single worst moment, across the 24 hours to 07:00. Bands follow the EN 16798-1 indoor standard.7

Air: hours in each stale-air band, every room, plus a VOC term.

Focus & Work: the average across your working hours: Sharp, Slipping or Heavy.

Sleep: the same air measure, narrowed to your bedroom overnight.

One tap deeper: every card in the app shows its rule and the standard behind it under "How this is measured".

What to do

Open the bedroom door or window before sleeping.

Get the most from your Air score

A four-step routine, built on how the studies measured and improved indoor air.

1

Place it where you breathe

In the room you use most, at about head height, away from open windows and vents.

Ventilation guidance places CO₂ monitors at breathing height in the rooms people use.19

2

Pin the cards that matter

Pin Air, Focus & Work and Sleep to your home screen, so one glance each morning covers the lot.

Four pinned cards, worst room first.

3

Do the one thing

Each card ends with a single action: open a window, prop a door, run the extractor.

A visible cue plus a clear action worked where advice alone did not.16

4

Compare the week

The 7-day view shows whether a new habit held, room by room.

Scores count hours in each band, so habits show up, not one-off peaks.

Questions People Ask

01.

How is the Air score calculated?

Layla counts how many hours each room spent above 1,000, 1,400 and 2,000 ppm of CO2 over the 24 hours to 7am, using the EN 16798-1 bands, and takes a few more points off for sustained VOCs. Long stuffy stretches cost more than brief peaks.

02.

What CO2 level should I aim for?

Keep rooms under 1,000 ppm for most of the day, and closer to 800 if you can. The bedroom overnight is the biggest win: fresher air there is linked to deeper sleep, and Layla's Sleep score tracks how long your bedroom stays stale.

03.

Where should I put it?

Place Layla in the room you use most, at about head height, away from open windows and vents. Ventilation guidance puts CO2 monitors at breathing height, in the rooms people actually spend time in.

04.

Can I track several rooms?

Yes. Each sensor covers one room. Flag the rooms that matter and Layla lines them up each morning, so you can see which one is slipping and track the week room by room.

05.

Do I need a subscription?

No. You own Layla once, with no monthly fee. The Air score and everything on your plan stay unlocked for good. A single bad-air problem can cost more to fix than Layla does.

06.

Is it private?

Yes. Layla reads air signals, CO2, VOCs and humidity, not people. No cameras, no audio, no footage stored. Encrypted and built for privacy.

07.

What does it need to run?

A wall outlet and Wi-Fi. Set it up in the Layla app, place it where you breathe, and it starts scoring hours of stale air automatically. No hub, no extra hardware.
