Getting Started

Let's get you set up.

Layla is ready to go straight out of the box. Most people are up and running in under ten minutes, without needing to read much of anything.

What is in the box.

Everything you need is already in there. Nothing extra to buy, nothing to track down separately.

Quick start guide

If anything is missing or damaged, contact support before you set up. We will sort it out straight away.

Three steps and you are done.

No tools, no technician, no reading through a 40-page manual. If you can plug something in and download an app, you can set up Layla.

Plug in Layla

Step 1

Plug in Layla

Find a good central spot, plug it into a power outlet, and you are already halfway there.

Connect the app

Step 2

Connect the app

Download the Layla app, create your account, and follow the steps to connect your device to your Wi-Fi. It takes about two minutes.

Set saving and limits

Step 3

Set saving and limits

From the moment it connects, Layla starts reading your environment. Within the first hour you will have your first air quality reading, your first noise baseline, and your first energy snapshot. It learns what normal looks like for your home and works from there.

What you will see in the app.

The app is built around four areas. Each one gives you a clear, simple view of one part of your home. Here is what they show you.

Noise and Activity

Noise and Activity

See when your home is busy and when it is quiet. Set your own noise threshold and get a notification if it is crossed. You can look back at the last 24 hours, the last week, or the last month. Useful for understanding what was happening while you were out.

Air Quality

Air Quality

Layla checks the air in your home continuously. The app shows you your current air quality score, humidity levels, and anything worth flagging. If something drops below a healthy range, you hear about it before anyone in your home starts feeling it.

Control and Energy

Control and Energy

See what your home is using and when. Set the AC to switch off automatically when a room empties. Spot where energy is being wasted and change it from the app, whether you are at home or not.

Insights

Insights

At the end of each month, Layla gives you a summary. How your air quality trended. How much energy you used compared to last month. What changed and when. Not raw numbers. Just the picture that is actually useful.

A few things that make a real difference.

Layla works well straight out of the box. These small choices when you set it up will make it work even better.

Put it where people actually spend time.

Put it where people actually spend time.

A living room, a hallway, an open kitchen. Somewhere central gives Layla the most useful picture of your home. Bathrooms and very humid spaces will throw off the air quality readings, so avoid those.

Give it some breathing room.

Give it some breathing room.

Layla needs to read the air around it. Do not tuck it behind furniture or press it against a wall. About 30 centimetres of clear space on each side is enough for the sensors to do their job properly.

A decent Wi-Fi signal helps a lot.

A decent Wi-Fi signal helps a lot.

Layla is always sending data to the app, so a patchy connection means patchy readings. If the signal in your chosen room is weak, a Wi-Fi extender is worth it before you finish setup.

Something not quite right?

Most things sort themselves out quickly. Here are the fixes for the most common issues.

Layla is not connecting to the app

Check that Bluetooth is turned on during setup. Layla uses Bluetooth to pair first, then switches to Wi-Fi. If it fails, unplug the device for 10 seconds and try again. Also worth checking: Layla works on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz. If your router broadcasts both, make sure you are connecting to the right one.

Wi-Fi keeps dropping

Start by checking that other devices in the same room are connecting fine. If they are and Layla is still dropping, move it closer to your router or pick up a Wi-Fi extender. One more thing: microwaves and cordless phones can interfere with the 2.4 GHz signal, so keep Layla away from those if you can.

The readings look wrong

Give it 24 hours. New sensors take a little time to calibrate and readings can fluctuate while Layla is getting to know your home's baseline. If things still look off after 48 hours, check that there is clear airflow around the device and that it is not sitting too close to a radiator, vent, or other heat source.
